Organic Grocery Online in India
"Organic" on an Indian label means something specific: for domestic sale it should carry the Jaivik Bharat mark under FSSAI, backed by either NPOP third-party certification or a PGS-India group certificate. If a pack says organic with no certifying body named, treat it as a marketing claim rather than a verified one. Our Ecotyl range is NPOP certified at source.
Reading the label
- Grains and dals: check the milling or packing date, not just the expiry. Whole grains lose freshness quickly once milled.
- Cold-pressed oils: "wood-pressed" and "kachi ghani" are extraction methods, not quality grades. Look for a dark or opaque bottle and a stated pressing date.
- Sweeteners: jaggery and coconut sugar are still sugars. If you are cutting back, look for "no refined sugar" rather than claims implying zero sugar.
- Spices: a stated ash content or lab-tested batch is a better signal than an origin story.
- Packaging: paper and glass are preferable, but check the inner liner — many "paper" pouches are foil-lined.
