Choosing between the options

• Menstrual cups — medical-grade silicone, reusable for years. Size is usually chosen by age and whether you have given birth. There is a learning curve of two or three cycles.
• Cloth pads — washable and reusable, typically organic cotton with a leak-resistant layer. Good if a cup does not suit you.
• Organic cotton disposables — no chlorine bleaching or plastic top sheet, useful for travel.
• Intimate washes — external use only, mild and close to the natural pH. The vagina is self-cleaning; internal washing is not recommended.

Avoid products marketed with fragrance for this category — added fragrance is a frequent cause of irritation. Everything here is vegan and cruelty-free.
