Sustainable Home Decor in India
Home decor is one of the easiest places to swap conventional materials for lower-impact ones, because most decor pieces are made from a single material you can inspect before buying. On EarthBased you will find wall art on handmade and recycled paper, terracotta and stoneware planters, jute and cotton table runners, bamboo and mango wood organisers, and soy and coconut wax candles.
How to choose
- Check the base material, not the finish. "Wooden look" often means MDF with a laminate. Solid mango wood, sheesham, bamboo and cane are repairable and last far longer.
- Candles: paraffin is a petroleum by-product. Soy and coconut wax burn cooler and longer. Look for cotton wicks rather than metal-cored ones, and a stated burn time.
- Textiles: ask for GOTS or OEKO-TEX Standard 100 on cushion covers and runners — this confirms the fabric has been tested for harmful substances. See our vendor certifications page for what each certificate actually covers.
- Ceramics: confirm the glaze is lead-free if the piece will hold food or water.
- Adhesives and animal inputs: some conventional decor uses bone glue, silk or leather trims. Everything listed here is vegan.
Pair decor with our Kitchen & Dining, Candles and Home & Office ranges to finish a room. Pan-India delivery in 3–5 days.
