Dishwashing is one of the highest-volume cleaning tasks in an Indian kitchen, so the formula matters both for your hands and for greywater. This range covers plant-based dishwash liquids, solid dishwash bars, powders, refill pouches and coir or loofah scrubbers.

What to compare

• Surfactant base. Coco glucoside, decyl glucoside and sodium coco-sulfate are coconut-derived and biodegrade readily. They foam less than SLES — less lather does not mean less cleaning.
• Concentration. Compare cost per wash, not per bottle. A concentrate at 5 ml per sinkful outlasts a diluted litre.
• Bars vs liquid. Solid dishwash bars ship without water or plastic and suit hard water well, but need a draining dish so they do not go soft.
• Hand feel. Added glycerin or aloe helps if you wash several times a day; high-pH powders strip skin faster.
• Greywater. If your kitchen water goes to a garden or soak pit, avoid phosphates and heavy synthetic fragrance.
