Eco-Friendly Yoga Products in India — Cork Blocks, Mats & Straps

Standard yoga mats are PVC or TPE and most straps and bolsters use synthetic webbing and polyester fill. This range covers cork blocks and bricks, natural rubber and jute mats, cotton straps and bolsters, and mat bags — all free of leather, wool and suede.

Choosing your kit

• Mat material. Natural rubber grips well and grips better as you sweat; jute and cotton mats are lighter and cooler but less cushioned. Natural rubber is not suitable if you have a latex allergy.
• Thickness. 4–5 mm suits standing and balance work; 6 mm and above is easier on knees but less stable in balancing poses.
• Cork blocks. Heavier and denser than foam, so they stay put under load, and cork is harvested from bark without felling the tree. Foam blocks are lighter to carry.
• Straps. Cotton webbing with a D-ring or cinch buckle. Check the length — 6 ft suits most adults, 8 ft if you are taller or use it for shoulder work.
• Care. Wipe rubber mats with mild soap and water and dry flat out of sunlight; UV degrades natural rubber.
