Sustainable Men's Clothing in India — Bamboo & Organic Cotton

The men's range at EarthBased is built around bamboo viscose and organic cotton basics: t-shirts, trunks, boxers, vests and everyday innerwear. Both fibres suit Indian weather better than polyester, and both are worth understanding before you buy.

Choosing the fabric

• Bamboo viscose is a regenerated fibre spun from bamboo pulp. It is noticeably softer than cotton, drapes well and moves moisture away from skin quickly, which is what makes it comfortable in humidity. Our bamboo fabric is OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified, meaning it has been tested for harmful substances — that certification covers substance safety, not any performance claim.
• Organic cotton is grown without synthetic pesticides. It is more absorbent than bamboo and holds shape better over many washes, but takes longer to dry.
• Check the blend percentage on each listing. Most bamboo innerwear includes around 5% elastane for stretch and recovery; a trunk with no elastane will bag out at the knee-line of the leg opening.
• GSM for tees. 160–180 GSM is a light summer tee; 200 GSM and above holds its shape better but runs warm.

Care

Wash cold, inside out, and dry in shade. Bamboo viscose weakens when hot-washed or tumble-dried on high, and that is the usual cause of thinning after a few months.
