Is bamboo fabric better than cotton?

Bamboo fabric is softer, drapes more fluidly and wicks sweat faster than most cotton, which makes it comfortable for innerwear, activewear and summer basics in India. Cotton is cheaper, more structured and tolerates hot washes. Many people use bamboo for next-to-skin wear and cotton for everything else.

Is bamboo clothing good for Indian summers?

Yes. Bamboo fabric is lightweight, breathable and moisture-wicking, so it stays comfortable in humid heat. That is why it is used most for t-shirts, underwear, bras and yoga pants.

Is bamboo fabric natural or synthetic?

Most bamboo clothing is bamboo viscose (rayon): bamboo pulp is dissolved and regenerated into fibre. The raw material is a fast-growing plant, but the fibre is made through a chemical process, so it is best described as a plant-based regenerated fibre rather than a raw natural fibre like linen.

How do I wash bamboo clothes?

Machine wash cold or at 30°C, skip bleach and fabric softener, and line dry. Tumble drying and hot washes shorten the life of the fabric and elastic.
