Kadak Masala Chai — Whole-Spice Assam Blend, Small Batch (50g)

- Description
- Additional info
- Assam Black Tea — grown in the Brahmaputra valley, where the low altitude and high humidity produce the malty, full-bodied strength that stands up to milk. A lighter Darjeeling or Ceylon leaf simply disappears in a kadak cup.
- Black Pepper — a slow, warming heat at the back of the sip, rather than a sharp bite up front.
- Ginger — whole dried ginger, for a clean pungency that ground powder loses within weeks of milling.
- Cinnamon — true Ceylon cinnamon, not cassia. Sweeter, more delicate, and far more aromatic.
- Cloves — deep and resinous, the note that makes a chai smell like a chai.
- Bay Leaves — an unusual addition in a commercial blend, and the reason the steam off a fresh cup smells faintly of eucalyptus.
- Cardamom — green pods, added last, for the floral sweetness that rounds the whole cup off without any sugar.
Most masala chai is a spice powder that lost its aroma months before it reached you. Kadak Masala Chai is built the other way round.
Lluvia Tea blends Assam black tea — sourced within 3 hours of harvest — with seven whole, unground spices, in small batches, and seals the tin within 48 hours. Whole spices hold their volatile oils; ground ones surrender them to the air. That is the entire difference between chai you can smell through the tin and chai you can't.
What's in the blend
Why small batch matters
Most commercial masala chai sits in a warehouse for months. Aromatic oils are volatile by definition — they leave. We source from Northeast India's tea gardens and seal the blend within 48 hours, so what you open is what was blended.
How to brew
Add 2.5g to 200ml water. Boil for 2 minutes. Add plant-based milk. Simmer 1 minute. Strain, and drink it strong.
Roughly 20 cups per tin.
