Alaknanda is one of the four fragrances in Kailapira's River Series of bambooless dhoop batti. The sticks are hand-rolled from flowers collected at temples in the hills of Uttarakhand and infused with water from the Alaknanda, the stream that joins the Bhagirathi at Devprayag to form the Ganga. This listing is two packs of 20 sticks, sized for a household that lights dhoop for daily pooja or meditation.

How to Use
Light the tip of the stick, let the flame catch, then blow it out so the stick smoulders. Stand it in a dhoop holder or a heatproof ash tray, keep it away from curtains and paper, and burn in a room with some airflow. Let the ash cool fully before clearing it.

Good to Know
Because the sticks are hand-rolled from flower powder, thickness, colour and burn time vary a little from stick to stick. A bambooless dhoop burns softer and cooler than a bamboo-cored agarbatti, so it needs a holder that supports the whole stick rather than just a pinhole.
FAQs
How is this different from a regular agarbatti?
A regular agarbatti is rolled around a thin bamboo splint. These sticks have no bamboo at all, so nothing but the flower and herb paste burns.
Does a dhoop holder come with the pack?
The River Series combo pack includes a cow-dung dhoop holder; this two-pack of Alaknanda does not, so use any dhoop stand or heatproof dish you already have.
How does Alaknanda differ from the other River Series fragrances?
Each of the four — Alaknanda, Bhagirathi, Ganga and Yamuna — is blended separately and infused with water from its own stream, so the scents differ. Alaknanda is the confluence fragrance of the set.
Can I burn it outside the pooja room?
Yes. An 8 inch stick suits a living room, study or entrance just as well as a shrine.
