Sustainable Women's Wear in India
Sustainable womenswear comes down to three things you can verify: what the fabric is made of, how it was dyed, and how long the garment will survive washing. Our range covers bamboo viscose, organic cotton, handloom khadi, linen and naturally dyed pieces from Indian vendors, all vegan — no silk, wool or leather trims.
What to check
- Fibre content label. A garment sold as "cotton blend" with no percentages is usually majority polyester.
- Dyes: ask whether the piece is naturally dyed or uses low-impact reactive dyes. Naturally dyed cotton fades gradually and unevenly — that is expected, not a defect.
- OEKO-TEX Standard 100 confirms the fabric has been tested for harmful substances. Details on our vendor certifications page.
- Construction: check for double-stitched side seams, finished armholes and a spare button. These are the cheapest indicators of whether a garment was built to last.
- GSM: 140–180 for everyday tees and kurtas; below 120 will go transparent after a few washes.
- Shrinkage: pre-shrunk cotton and khadi still lose 2–3% on first wash. Size accordingly.
