Out in the Dark | Bon Fiction

Out in the Dark is Bon Fiction's 73% dark chocolate, made tree-to-bar from cacao grown in the Godavari region. At 73% it lands in the approachable part of the dark range: clearly dark, but without the dryness that puts people off higher percentages. This is the bar to keep in the cupboard for everyday squares.

• Short ingredient list with no preservatives
• Single-origin Indian cacao from Godavari farms
• No palm oil and no artificial flavouring
• Dairy-free and suitable for a plant-based diet

How to Enjoy It

Two squares after lunch is the usual way in. It also holds up well chopped into cookie dough or shaved over ice cream, since the cocoa is strong enough to stay noticeable once it is mixed with something sweeter.

FAQs

Is this a good first tree-to-bar dark chocolate?

Yes. 73% is the easiest starting point in the range — dark enough to taste the origin, mild enough to eat casually.

Can I bake with it?

It works well in brownies, cookies and ganache. Chop it rather than grating so you get pockets of melted chocolate.

Does it contain nuts?

No nuts are used in the recipe, but it is made in a facility that also processes nuts, milk solids and lecithin.

What does cocoa butter do in the bar?

It gives the bar its snap and the smooth melt on the tongue. It comes from the cacao bean itself, so no dairy fat is involved.
