Safe Bee — Vegan Wholefood Bars, Granola & Muesli in India

Safe Bee makes date- and nut-based wholefood bars, cacao dessert bars, dark chocolate granola and a ragi millet muesli. Flavours run across pistachio, almond walnut, chia almond, peanut, ragi almond and cacao hazelnut, mostly sold in packs of four.

How to tell a wholefood bar from a confectionery bar

• Read the first three ingredients. On a genuine wholefood bar they will be dates, nuts and seeds. If sugar, glucose syrup or invert syrup appears in the first three, it is closer to a sweet.
• Binder. Date paste and fig binds without added syrup. Rice syrup and honey-style binders raise sugar sharply — and Safe Bee's bars are vegan, so no honey is used.
• Protein comes from the nuts. A nut-dense 40g bar typically lands at 4–6g protein. Anything claiming much more usually has added protein isolate, which the ingredient list will show.
• Cacao versus chocolate. Cacao bars use the solids directly; chocolate-coated bars add cocoa butter and sugar. Compare per-100g sugar between the two formats before deciding.
• Granola and muesli. Granola is baked with oil and a sweetener, so it is denser in both. Muesli is raw and generally lower in fat. Neither is automatically the better choice — check the fat and sugar columns.
• FSSAI licence number should be printed on every pack.
