Buying a discount well

• Check the unit price, not the discount percentage. A 40% saving on a 100g pack can still cost more per 100g than a full-price 500g one. Compare cost per gram or per millilitre.
• Watch shelf life on discounted food. Grocery is often reduced because it is closer to its best-before date. That is fine for something you will finish this month, less so for a bulk pack of seeds or oil that oxidises.
• Bundle by vendor. Combining several items from one brand keeps everything in a single dispatch rather than arriving as separate parcels over a week.
• Clothing sizes go first. Discounted apparel is usually broken-size stock. Check the measurement chart before ordering rather than assuming your usual size is available.
• Refills are the reliable saving. A discounted concentrate or refill pouch cuts both cost per wash and packaging, which a discounted single bottle does not.
