Vegan Lip Balm & Lip Care Online in India

Most lip products sold as "natural" in India are wax-and-oil balms; the differences that matter are which wax, which oils, and whether there is any sun protection at all.

What to check before buying

• Wax base. Beeswax is not vegan. Vegan balms use candelilla or carnauba wax — check the ingredient list rather than the marketing copy, since "natural" and "vegan" are not the same claim.
• Oils and butters. Shea, cocoa and kokum butter give a thicker, longer-wearing film; coconut and almond oil feel lighter but wear off faster. Castor oil is what gives tinted balms their gloss.
• Flavouring. Peppermint and cinnamon oils can sting already-cracked lips. If your lips are chapped, pick an unflavoured balm until they heal.
• SPF. Only buy an SPF claim if the pack states the SPF number. Reapply every two hours outdoors — lip balm wears off quickly with eating and drinking.
• Tints. Check whether colour comes from iron oxides or from carmine, which is insect-derived and not vegan.
